Dystopian Thriller Movie The Well Gets Trailer, Release Date

News is debuting an exclusive trailer for The Wellits newest dystopian thriller from Academy Award nominee Hubert Davis. The movie takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where the water supply has been contaminated with a virus.

“In a world where environmental collapse has left survivors to fight over the precious remaining resources, a young woman’s loyalties are tested by the arrival of a wounded man who discovers her family has a secret supply of freshwater,” reads the official synopsis.

When is the release date for The Well?

Quiver Distribution is officially releasing The Well on digital platforms starting on March 20, 2026. Previously, the movie had its world premiere at the 2025 Fantasia International Film Festival. The ensemble cast includes Joanne Boland as Elisha, Noah Lamanna as Milly, Sheila McCarthy as Gabriel, Steven McCarthy as Walter, Shailyn Pierre-Dixon as Sarah Devine, Natasha Mumba as Wanda, Idrissa Sanogo as Jamie, Cameron Nicoll as Sam, and Arnold Pinnock as Paul.

The movie is directed by Canadian filmmaker Hubert Davis, with Michael Capellupo and Kathleen Hepburn writing the screenplay. Davis is best known for his acclaimed work on 2006’s short documentary film Hardwood, which served as his feature directorial debut. It also earned Davis an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Short Subject. Executive producers are Damon D’Oliveira, Tom Evelyn, Lexy Kavluk, McCarthy, Pinnock, and Clement Virgo. It is produced by Davis, Coral Aiken, and Davis, with Stuart James Cameron as the movie’s cinematographer.
