Pune: E-auction of 187 vehicles seized for non-payment of motor vehicle tax as well as for various offenses under the Motor Vehicle Act has been conducted in the last two years. Pune RTO1 crore 1 lakh 89 thousand 346 rupees has been received. Deputy Regional Transport Officer Swapnil Bhosle has given this information.

It was observed by the Regional Transport Office that despite repeated opportunities to the vehicle owners who owed taxes like vehicle tax and environment tax, they did not come forward to pay the tax. Therefore, a decision was taken by this RTO office to implement the auction process of such 187 vehicles. E-Lit was done online by Regional Transport Office. From this, the Pune department has got a huge revenue of 1 crore 1 lakh 87 thousand 346. Hence, this auction process has been beneficial for the RTOs and in turn for the government as well.

The process of auctioning 187 vehicles that did not pay tax dues despite repeated deadlines was implemented. RTO has got more than 1 crore revenue from this e-auction.

Auto rickshaw drivers are taking fare directly from passengers without charging fare according to the meter. Also, Regional Transport Office Pune has taken action against unruly auto rickshaw drivers for violating the rules like excess passengers, fare refusal, rude behavior, meter fast. In January 2026, 477 auto rickshaws were inspected and 174 auto rickshaw drivers were found guilty. A fine of Rs 55 lakh has been recovered.
