Follow these steps to change Gmail username
First of all, you have to go to the settings of the Google account. Here open Personal Information and tap on Email. Select the new Google Account email and select the option to change this email. Choose or create your new username and confirm it. Currently, this feature of Google is available only for users in America. The company is trying to bring this feature to all users in a phased manner.
What will happen to your old email ID?
Google has said that under the new feature, when a user changes their email address, the user’s old Gmail ID will continue to function as an optional email address. If someone sends an email to your old email id, you will receive that email on your new email id. Some limitations are set for changing Gmail username.

- Users cannot change their email ID frequently.
- Once the username is changed, users will not be able to change their email ID again until the expiry of about 12 months.
