Tezzbuzz Desk- The government and automobile companies have given clear clarification on various rumors spreading on social media regarding E20 ethanol mixed petrol in the country. Experts have said that claims like “engine failure, ants in the tank or rust” have no scientific basis.

The government has appealed to the people to consider only the official information as correct instead of relying on viral videos and misleading posts.

E20 implemented after long research and testing

According to automobile companies, E20 petrol has not been implemented without testing. Scientific research, testing and field studies have been done on this for many years. Only after this it was implemented across the country in a phased manner. At present, E20 petrol is available as per BIS standards at more than 77,000 petrol pumps in the country.

No damage found even on old vehicles

A senior Maruti Suzuki official said that E20 has also been tested on E10 vehicles manufactured before 2023. These tests found no evidence of any additional damage to the engine, fuel tank or pipeline. In the data received from the company’s service network, no serious or unusual complaints related to E20 have been registered.

The claim of ‘ants being attacked’ is completely wrong

Experts clarified that ethanol does not contain sugar, hence things like ants being found in petrol tanks are scientifically wrong. According to Toyota Kirloskar officials, in the cases where the problem was reported, water or adulteration was found in the fuel during testing. After cleaning and servicing the vehicles started running normally.
