It is being told that 25 percent ethanol blending is being seen as the maximum limit under the current policy.

The government has achieved the target of blending 20 percent ethanol in petrol well ahead of schedule. Earlier this target was to be achieved by the year 2030, but now E20 petrol has been made available across the country. The government says that after this achievement, it is time to move towards the next phase.

It will be implemented in a phased manner so that vehicle manufacturing companies can prepare new engines, technology and necessary infrastructure in time. According to government estimates, about 45 million barrels of crude oil is being saved every year by blending 20 percent ethanol. Apart from this, it has also been claimed to save foreign exchange of about Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
