Early elections in Punjab? Kejriwal’s big claim, Bhagwant…

Arvind Kejriwal claimed on Friday that the assembly elections to be held in Punjab can be held in November this year instead of February 2027. He also said that there is a possibility of early elections, although he did not give any clear information on the reasons behind this.

Chandigarh: During a public meeting held in Bathinda, Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made a big political claim regarding the politics of Punjab. He said that the assembly elections in the state can be held before the scheduled time, i.e. in November 2026 instead of February 2027. However, he did not clarify any official reason behind this claim.

During this, he also made it clear that the current Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will lead the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and he will remain the chief ministerial face of the party.

Show of strength seen in road show and public meeting in Bathinda

During the Bathinda tour, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Punjab AAP President Aman Arora were also present along with Arvind Kejriwal. During this, the leaders expressed gratitude to the workers and the public for the party’s performance in the municipal elections. A large number of supporters participated in the road show organized before the public meeting, in which AAP tried to show its strong grassroots hold in Punjab.

“Now only four months are left” – Kejriwal claims

Addressing the gathering, Arvind Kejriwal said that he has received information that Punjab Assembly elections may be held before the scheduled time. He said that if this happens, the party will have very little time left for preparation, hence the organization should enter the field with full force from now on. He also said that in the last four years, the people of Punjab have appreciated the work of the Aam Aadmi Party government and that is why the party is continuously getting public support.

Sharp attack on opposition parties

In his speech, Kejriwal also attacked the opposition parties without naming them. He said that there are some political parties in Punjab which either remain embroiled in internal disputes, or do politics under the shadow of corruption and fear of investigating agencies. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party presents itself as a “working party”, which focuses on public issues and gives priority to development work.

While openly praising Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal said that Punjab has got many Chief Ministers in the last several decades, but during Mann’s tenure the government was not accused of major corruption. He described it as one of the biggest achievements of the AAP government. He also claimed that the state government has implemented several public welfare schemes in the last four years, including free electricity scheme, health protection coverage and other social schemes.

Apart from this, he announced that in the coming time, financial assistance will be increased in the accounts of women, so that women can be economically empowered.
