The US Geological Survey (USGS) department gave clear information about this earthquake that occurred on Friday. He told that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of about 10 kilometers from Puerto Madero city of Mexico. Now there is a possibility of more shocks due to aftershock. According to reports, after the 7.4 magnitude tremor, several more tremors occurred. The strongest shock in this was of intensity 6.1.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said there were no immediate reports of damage in the states of Chiapas and Tabasco after the earthquake. Damage assessment is underway in the affected areas and officials are monitoring the situation. At the same time, Guatemalan President Bernardo Arevalo also confirmed, “There is no news of any death so far. Agencies are monitoring the situation moment by moment.” He further said, “I appeal to the people to remain calm and follow the advice given in such cases.”
Tsunami warning issued
After this powerful earthquake, the US Tsunami Warning System has issued a tsunami warning for the region. Along with this, he warned about the possibility of dangerous changes in sea level in the affected coastal areas.

The effect of this earthquake in Mexico was also seen in neighboring countries. According to Reuters report, buildings in Guatemala City were badly shaken. On the other hand, residents in El Salvador have also felt strong earthquake tremors. At present, no clear information has been revealed about the extent of damage caused in any country. However, the fear of loss has increased after such a powerful earthquake.
