Delhi Earthquake: Strong earthquake tremors in Delhi, earth shook in Jammu-Kashmir and Punjab also; people coming out of their homes
Delhi Earthquake: Strong earthquakes shook people across North India including Delhi-NCR on Friday night. At around 09:40 pm (Indian time) when people were resting in their homes, suddenly fans, chandeliers and windows started shaking. The tremors of the earthquake were felt so strong and for a long time (about 15-20 seconds) that people ran towards safe places with their children screaming in fear.
An atmosphere of chaos was seen from the posh areas of Delhi to the high-rise societies of Noida and Gurugram. Instead of the lift, people were seen running down the stairs. At many places, people have shared videos on social media, in which household items can be seen shaking.
Impact in Punjab and Jammu also
Apart from Delhi-NCR, tremors were felt in many areas of North India including Chandigarh. In many parts of Jammu and Kashmir, people came out of their homes and offices due to ground shaking. Earthquake tremors were also felt in Udhampur, Poonch and many areas of Kashmir Valley in Jammu and Kashmir. The tremors lasted for a few seconds, but their intensity was such that people panicked and ran towards safe places.

People living in many high-rise buildings in Delhi-NCR felt the tremors clearly. People sitting in offices and homes immediately came out. At some places people gathered in parks and open fields.
no loss of life or property
A resident living in a housing society in Noida said that the shock was so strong that the bed started shaking. We immediately understood that it was a big earthquake and without any delay we ran down. At present Delhi-NCR There is no news of any major loss of life or property, but cracks in some old buildings are being reported from the hilly areas and Kashmir Valley. The administration has put police and disaster management teams on alert as a precautionary measure.

Geologists expressed concern
Experts say that after the earthquake there will be ‘aftershocks’ There is a possibility of earthquake, hence people have been advised to remain alert. Delhi and surrounding areas fall in Seismic Zone-4, which is considered very sensitive in terms of earthquake. In the last few months, the number of small and big earthquakes has increased in North India, due to which the concerns of geologists have also increased.
