Why were earthquake tremors felt at the center in Afghanistan and in North India??
According to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region and the Hindu Kush region on Friday. Its center was deep inside the ground, at a depth of about 177 kilometers. According to experts, when an earthquake occurs at such a great depth, its waves travel very far. This is the reason why its tremors were felt very strongly not only in the neighboring countries, but also in many parts of North India.
