  • 1 cup Almond coarsely chopped
  • 3/4 cup Jaggery grated
  • 1-2 spoon Water to melt jaggery
  • 2 spoon Ghee
  • 1/2 spoon cardamom powder

Step 1: Roast the almonds

  1. First of all, lightly fry the almonds so that their aroma and crispness increases. Once cooled, roughly chop the almonds. Grease a plate or tray thoroughly with ghee.

Step 2: Make Jaggery Syrup

  1. Put jaggery in the pan and melt it on low flame. Keep stirring occasionally so that the jaggery does not burn. When the jaggery melts completely and starts boiling lightly, prepare a syrup by adding some water to it.

Step 3: Add almonds to the syrup

  1. Now add roasted chopped almonds in the prepared syrup and mix well quickly, so that all the almonds get coated in jaggery.

Step 4: How to arrange chikki in tray

  1. Immediately pour this mixture into a greased plate or tray. Spread it evenly on top with the help of a spoon or rolling pin.

Step 5: Cut Chikki

  1. When the chikki is slightly hot, cut it into desired shapes with a knife. Let it cool completely so that the chikki becomes firm properly.

some additional tips

  • Melt the jaggery on very low flame and with the help of water, let all of it dissolve properly. Cook the jaggery until it does not stick to your hand and is slightly crispy.
  • You can prevent the chikki from sticking by applying light ghee before putting it on the plate or tray. Lightly roasting almonds increases both its taste and aroma.
  • Adding a little cardamom powder makes the taste of chikki even more special. When the jaggery is very hot, it is difficult to spread it, so let it cool down a bit and then spread it with a rolling pin or spoon.
  • After putting the chikki on the tray, cut it only when it cools down and sets. If it gets too cold it may break.
