Eating peanuts daily in winter can improve memory, study shows surprising results

Peanuts For Mental Health: Winter season is considered a special opportunity to improve not only physical health but also mental health. Small changes in diet can play a big role in increasing brain function, stabilizing mood and improving focus. Recently, a new research has strengthened the claim that daily consumption of peanuts can help in improving memory and brain function.

Know in the study

This study by Maastricht University Medical Center in the Netherlands was named “Skin Roasted Peanuts”. The research was conducted on 31 healthy elderly people aged 60–75 years for 16 weeks. The participants were given 60 grams of peanuts every day, which they could eat at any time during the day. When the brains were tested at the end of the study, the results were surprising—blood flow to the participants’ brains increased by about 3.6%, especially in areas related to memory. Their verbal memory was also improved by about 5.8%. That is, there was a significant improvement in the ability to remember things heard or read orally. However, researchers also believe that this effect may not be the same in every person, because everyone’s medical condition and diet are different.

What do experts say

Regarding this, nutritionists say that, Groundnut Healthy fat is considered an excellent source of MUFA and PUFA. Since a large portion of the brain is made up of fat, a lack of fat in the diet can affect focus, memory and decision-making abilities.
Vitamin B3 (niacin) present in peanuts increases blood circulation and reduces the risk of memory loss with age. Additionally, the magnesium and antioxidants present in it help in keeping the mind calm by controlling stress hormones. Experts say that soaked peanuts can improve problems like mental fatigue, low concentration and burnout along with easy digestion.
