EC Releases Third Supplementary Voter List in West Bengal – Read
Kolkata, Mar 30:
The Election Commission has released the third supplementary voter list in West Bengal as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process ahead of Assembly elections.
The supplementary lists are being published in phases to include or exclude names after judicial verification of claims and objections. Millions of voters had been placed under adjudication during the revision exercise, with earlier lists already determining the eligibility of a large number of electors.
The SIR process aims to ensure accuracy and transparency in electoral rolls by removing duplicate or ineligible entries while including eligible voters. The phased release of supplementary lists is crucial in finalising the voter database before polling.
However, the exercise has also faced challenges, including technical glitches and discrepancies in earlier lists, raising concerns over accessibility and completeness of voter data ahead of the elections.
