Middle East tension creates new trouble for ECB, huge shortage of ‘Dukes’ balls

Delhi: Due to the war going on in the Middle East, England (England Cricket TeamA big threat is looming over the upcoming cricket season. Actually, the England Cricket Board is facing shortage of ‘Dukes’ balls. Due to the war between Iran, Israel and America, the main supply route from the Indian subcontinent to the UK has been disrupted, due to which the shipments have stopped.

At the same time, the cost of transportation of goods has increased three times, due to which the supply chain has become expensive and the goods are not being delivered at the right time. Due to lack of balls, preparations for matches in England may be adversely affected.

Big trouble facing England cricket

Let us tell you that the upcoming cricket season in England is going to start from April 3, which is still some time away. However, due to the shortage of balls before the start of the season, ECB’s concern seems to be increasing.

In the coming days, along with domestic test matches, county championship is also to be played in England. Only Deux balls are going to be used in this. The board has only half the stock of balls required by the ECB during these matches.

Dilip Jajodia, owner of British Cricket Balls Limited, has spoken openly on this serious situation. He has blamed the ongoing tension in the Middle East for this situation. He said that the county teams had already been instructed to survive with fewer balls.

Jajodia said in a conversation with Daily Mail, ‘Due to the ongoing tension in the Middle East, a big crisis has arisen in front of us. We have to make do with giving clubs 50 percent less balls than they require at the beginning of the season and then manage this problem. We have a lot of goods ready to be shipped to the factories in the subcontinent, but the airlines are not carrying the goods because there is huge traffic jam there.

Shipment price increased three times

Jajodiya told during the conversation that the fare has also increased a lot. Airlines typically charge around $5 per kg for a box of 120 cricket balls, but the last quotation I found was $15 per kg. Most of the goods go through the Middle East, but if suddenly rockets start firing there, then you face a big problem.
