Unitech Golf Country Club: ED action in Unitech Golf and Country Club case; Properties worth Rs 634.12 crore seized

Unitech Golf Country Club Properties Seized: The Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED has taken major action in the case related to Unitech Golf and Country Club Project. ED has taken this action in connection with money laundering and alleged diversion of home buyers’ funds. Their market value is Rs 634.12 crore. The Headquarters Investigation Unit of the ED Headquarters had issued a provisional attachment order under the PMLA Act, 2002 on May 27. After this this action has been taken.

Central investigation agency ED has temporarily attached the properties of the project located in Sector-96, 97 and 98 of Noida. The investigating agency says that this amount is related to the alleged diversion of funds of home buyers and financial institutions.

Let us tell you that ED had started this investigation on the basis of 76 FIRs registered by Delhi Police and CBI against Unitech Limited, its promoters, directors and others. The cases involved allegations of fraud, criminal conspiracy and alleged misappropriation of home buyers’ money. The attached properties include leasehold rights of approximately 347.83 acres of land. Apart from this, action has also been taken against the stake of Sungress Products India Private Limited (Uflex Group) and CIG Infrastructure Private Limited. ED said that as per the current market value, the value of the attached properties of the UGCC project is around Rs 8115 crore.

Allegation of diverting Rs 7794 crore out of Rs 16 thousand crore

Unitech Ltd had received a total of Rs 16,075.89 crore from home buyers, investors and financial institutions. Of this, about Rs 7,794.35 crore was diverted for non-specified purposes.

ED had started action on the basis of 76 FIRs.
