“NCERT will triple the publication of books and will publish 15 crore books this year,” he said. Emphasizing the importance of making education enjoyable for the 300 million students of this age group, Pradhan also stressed on creating interactive and AI-powered e-books, including innovations like interactive books.
Pirated NCERT books will be controlled
According to officials, NCERT books for all classes will be made available on the Amazon NCERT storefront, which was also launched on Monday. Books will not be sold at a price higher than MRP. Only original NCERT books will be sold on this platform, which will help in preventing the sale of pirated NCERT books.
Remote areas will be easily accessible
It further added that “Amazon will help NCERT to monitor and catch unauthorized sellers distributing fake or overpriced books. “Through Amazon’s vast network, students and schools, even in remote areas, will be able to purchase books at a fixed price.”
Bulk ordering will also be easy
“This will address challenges such as shortage of supplies, delayed availability and regional shortage of textbooks, thereby ensuring equitable access to education,” a senior education ministry official said. Apart from serving individual customers, Amazon will also partner with NCERT to facilitate bulk orders for government agencies and schools, making it easier for institutions to purchase books in large quantities.
To support this, NCERT has appointed a number of delivery vendors who will work with sellers on Amazon to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
