Edwards Returns Ahead of Schedule

Anthony Edwards made a stunning early return from injury, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a dramatic 104-102 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Initially expected to miss at least the first two games, Edwards instead took the court just 10 days after hyperextending his left knee.

After hitting an early 3-pointer, he turned toward the Spurs bench and shouted: “I’m back! I’m back!”

Clutch Fourth Quarter Performance

Edwards delivered when it mattered most, scoring 11 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter.

His late-game performance helped Minnesota hold off a Spurs comeback and secure a critical road win.

“Everybody in the arena is against us,” Edwards said. “Yeah, I think that’s the best thing about it… I’m with Minnesota. I got Minnesota back at all times.”

Motivation Drives Comeback

Despite concerns about his injury — which included a bone bruise — Edwards pushed through an accelerated recovery process.

“I think I got the best physical therapist in the world with David Hines,” Edwards said. “So, just trusting him and working through all the pain… he got me right.”

Coach Chris Finch praised both Edwards’ determination and the team’s medical staff.

“He loves to play the game,” Finch said. “We dodged a bullet when it happened… he was super motivated.”

Wembanyama Delivers Historic Defensive Night

Victor Wembanyama put on a defensive masterclass despite the loss.

He recorded 11 points, 15 rebounds, and set an NBA postseason record with 12 blocked shots.

The matchup between Edwards and Wembanyama added another chapter to their growing rivalry.

“I don’t think me coming back was because of nothing they got going on,” Edwards said. “It was more so I want to be out there with my brothers.”

Game Strategy Remained Unchanged

Even with uncertainty about Edwards’ availability, the Spurs prepared as if he would play.

“We figured he would want to play,” said Spurs forward Julian Champagnie. “There was no difference in the strategy… May the best man win.”

San Antonio’s Dylan Harper acknowledged Edwards’ impact, calling him a “superstar in this league.”

Timberwolves Seize Early Series Momentum

Minnesota’s victory handed San Antonio just its second loss in the last 17 Game 1s at home.

The Timberwolves, who went 2-1 against the Spurs in the regular season, now hold a crucial advantage in the series.

Edwards came off the bench for 25 minutes but made a decisive impact, particularly in the final stretch.

Looking Ahead to Game 2

It remains unclear whether Edwards will return to the starting lineup or face minutes restrictions in Game 2.

However, the star guard expressed confidence in his condition.

“I felt great,” Edwards said. “I don’t think I’m limited at all. And just whatever coach needs from me.”

Outlook: Series Momentum Shifts

Edwards’ unexpected return and clutch performance could reshape the series.

With momentum on their side, the Timberwolves have an opportunity to build on their Game 1 successwhile the Spurs must adjust quickly.

The matchup promises to remain intense as both teams battle for a spot in the conference finals.
