Election Commission will use modern technology to catch fake voters Gujarati
After Trinamool Congress raised the issue of fake voters, now the Election Commission has also taken some steps. Under this, the Election Commission has decided to make some changes in its software so that fake voters can be caught. The Election Commission is going to include a new option in its software, through which the election registration officers will be able to search multiple names linked to the EPIC number. This will make it easier to catch fake voters.
- Letter sent to election officials of states
An election official said that the Chief Electoral Officers of all the states have been informed about this decision. A letter regarding this has been sent to all election officials on Monday. Acting Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal Divyendu Das held a virtual meeting with senior officials on Monday and gave complete information about the decision. The process of amending the voter list in West Bengal will be completed by March 21.
- TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee made allegations
Recently, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee had alleged that the independent role of the Election Commission has been affected after BJP came to power in 2014. He said this in a virtual meeting organized to discuss the party’s strategy for the upcoming 2026 assembly elections and efforts to find alleged irregularities in the voter list in the state. TMC state committee leaders, MPs, MLAs and local representatives were present in this meeting.
Addressing TMC workers in Kolkata, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said, ‘I have evidence that an agency present in Bengal is changing the names of voters of Bengal with those of Haryana, Gujarat and other states, while the voter identity card number remains the same.’ Mamta claimed that this was happening directly from Delhi. By doing this they (BJP) won in Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi.
