Election violence in Baharampur, TMC workers attacked Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary during election campaign.
Baharampur. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and his supporters were allegedly attacked by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers during the election campaign for Baharampur Assembly seat in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Saturday. This incident has increased the tension in the election environment of the state.
Details of the incident-
According to NA news agency, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary was present during the public relations campaign in Baharampur. Then some TMC workers suddenly disrupted the campaign and attacked the Congress leader and his supporters. During this period some vehicles were also damaged.
Congress made serious allegations against TMC-
Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said that the attack was well-planned and TMC was trying to suppress opposition voices through its workers. Congress directly held Trinamool Congress responsible for this incident.
Impact on election environment-
Such incidents further increase the election excitement. Both the major parties are leveling allegations and counter-accusations against each other, due to which the campaign campaigns may be affected and questions are also being raised on the security arrangements in the area.
Further action-
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Election Commission has given instructions to the Bengal administration. If necessary, the Commission can call for reports from both the parties and order further investigation. Security is being beefed up to ensure peaceful elections in the area.
