Increasing demand for electric cars in India, every third consumer is interested

Obnews Automobile Desk: The demand for electric cars in India has increased rapidly in the last few years. Keeping this change in mind, car manufacturing companies are also introducing many new cars in the electric segment. According to a new report, one in three consumers in India is planning to buy an electric vehicle (EV) as their next car. The special thing is that there has been a big participation of women in this decision.

36% consumers are considering EV

According to the Think Mobility report released by Google and BCG, the demand for electric vehicles has increased rapidly in the Indian automotive market. However, the growth rate of countries like America, Switzerland and Denmark is higher than India. The report states that 36% of Indian consumers are considering buying an electric vehicle as their next car.

Government's emphasis on electric vehicles

The Indian government and the auto industry are making continuous efforts to promote the sales of electric vehicles. The 3rd International Conference on Sustainability Circularity was organized by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Monday. Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said during this time that carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced to a great extent through electric vehicles.

Target of 50% EV sales by 2030

The minister stressed on setting a target for the automobile sector to make 50% of the total car sales through electric vehicles by 2030. The report also revealed that India now sells more cars annually than the total population of some countries. There has been a 20% increase in sales of electric vehicles in the year 2024, which is a sign of a bright future for this sector.
