Electricity dues recovery campaign started in Bihar, if bill is not paid then connection will be cut

Patna. Preparations have now been made to take strict action against consumers who have outstanding electricity bills in Bihar. The state energy department has started a special campaign to recover the outstanding amount. The department has clearly said that if the electricity bill is not deposited within the stipulated time, then the electricity connection of the concerned consumers can be disconnected and if necessary, legal action will also be taken.

The Energy Department has set a target of additional recovery of about Rs 200 crore by March 31 under this campaign. For this, special teams have been formed in different districts, which will identify the big defaulters and collect the outstanding amount from them.

Decision taken in officers’ meeting

An important meeting was organized at Vidyut Bhawan in the capital Patna. The meeting was presided over by senior energy department official Manoj Kumar Singh. In the meeting, the status of electricity bill arrears was reviewed and officials were instructed to prepare the list of defaulting consumers regularly and speed up the recovery process.

Target given to power companies

The Energy Department has also given special targets to both the power distribution companies of the state. These companies have been instructed to make additional recovery of Rs 100-100 crore by the end of March. For this, arrangements are being made to ensure prompt payment from big defaulting consumers.

Action will also be taken against illegal connections

To prevent electricity theft and revenue loss, the department has this time decided to take strict action against illegal double connections. In many places, two connections are being run in the same house or premises against the rules. After identifying such cases, fine will be imposed on consumers found guilty and legal action will also be taken if necessary.
