Questions are being raised on the privacy of WhatsApp

WhatsApp Privacy: Nowadays everyone around the world is using WhatsApp. Now a big controversy has come to light regarding the use of this WhatsApp. Elon Musk and Pavel Durov have raised many serious questions regarding the privacy of WhatsApp. Musk has said that WhatsApp is not trustworthy. On the other hand, Durov calls it the biggest encryption fraud ever.

The whole controversy has started after a new class action lawsuit filed against WhatsApp in America. This petition was filed in the Federal Court of California in January on behalf of Brian Y, Shirazi and Ninda Samson. In this, Meta Platform and Accenture have been made parties, along with this a demand has been made for jury trial and damages.

What allegations have been made by the petitioners?

The petition claims that WhatsApp intercepts the messages of its users and allegedly shares them with third parties. This allegation directly questions the company’s claim of ‘end-to-end encryption’. At present this matter is going on in the court, in which no decision has been taken yet. Whereas after such allegations, people are asking questions about privacy.

What did Mask and Durov say?

Elon Musk has posted on his platform X and appealed to the users to use X Chat. Along with this it was claimed that “real privacy” is available there. At the same time, Durov said that WhatsApp is misleading billions of users, whereas Telegram has never compromised the privacy of users. Both have appealed to use their respective platforms.

How did Meta respond to the allegations?

After the allegations against Meta, its reaction has also come to light. According to the company, all these claims are completely false and absurd. Meta says that WhatsApp has been using end-to-end encryption based on the Signal protocol for several years. Due to which the messages remain limited only to the sender and the recipient.
