SpaceX Share Falling: Shares of Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, which recently entered the market, have started falling. The stock has been gaining momentum since its dramatic entry into the stock market last week. But now this boom has stopped. It also fell on Friday. SpaceX’s stock has been falling steadily for the past two days. The stock fell 5% on June 17. On June 18, it closed at $185, down approximately 3.50%. On June 18, the stock fell more than 6%. On Friday, June 19, the US stock market was closed for ‘Juneteenth’.
Big drop in market capitalization
SpaceX’s share price reached $225.64 on June 16. The company had a market capitalization of $2.94 trillion that day. When the US stock market closed on Thursday, SpaceX had a market capitalization of $2.44 trillion. This means that the company’s market capitalization dropped by $0.50 trillion, or $50 billion, in these two days.
Start of sale
The drop comes after SpaceX’s impressive first week on the market, during which the company’s valuation topped $2 trillion in its Nasdaq debut. SpaceX’s shares rose sharply in the first two days, but investors have since begun to reassess whether the company’s long-term prospects match its current lofty valuation, particularly as the company rapidly ramps up its spending on AI initiatives. This caused some investors to sell.
Investors’ confidence is waning
Market data also shows that the pace of purchases is slowing down. According to Wanda Research, retail investors bought more than $300 million worth of SpaceX shares on a net basis over the past three sessions, but those net purchases had fallen to just $9.1 million as of 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Experts had already warned that the stock could fluctuate significantly in the initial days due to low public float and excessive valuation.
