Big step by Elon Musk, parody accounts on X will have separate labeling

Obnews Tech Desk: Elon Musk, owner of social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has recently issued new guidelines. Under these guidelines, parody accounts present on the platform will now be identified separately. The company said that labeling will be done on parody accounts and their posts so that users are not deceived and can differentiate between real and fake accounts.

Why is this step necessary?

Many fake accounts are often created on the platform in the name of celebrities and politicians. People consider the posts made from these accounts to be genuine, which can lead to confusion and controversy. Many times controversial statements are posted from these accounts, which harms the image of the person concerned. To deal with these problems, X has decided to implement this new system.

The company gave information through post

“We are introducing profile labels for parody accounts on our platform,” X explained in a post. “These labels are designed to increase transparency and make it clear to users which is the real account.” The company also said that this labeling will apply not only to the accounts but also to their posts. Apart from this, the company will soon announce the detailed information and date of implementation of the rules related to it.
