“Embarrassing”: Mohammad Kaif takes a dig at Team India’s player for going unsold in IPL 2025 Mega Auction

Mohammad Kaif was surprised that not even one franchise showed interest in Prithvi Shaw during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Former Indian cricketer slammed the player as he went unsold on Monday, November 25. Shaw, who was once called second Virender Sehwag, failed to get any bid despite keeping his price at INR 75 lakh.

Speaking on Jio Cinema, Kaif mentioned that the young batter should be embarrassed as he didn’t get any buyers in the bidding process. He further said that Shaw does not have the right to complain about not getting picked.

Kaif revealed that Delhi Capitals backed Prithvi Shaw but he was not able to give consistent performances.

“Delhi Capitals backed him with the hope of seeing consistent performances. He has the ability to hit 6 boundaries in an over. We thought that if he scored runs, Delhi Capitals would win. He was given a lot of chances to prove his worth,” Mohammed Kaif said on Jio Cinema.

“Duirng the team meetings, the decision-makers pondered whether Prithvi should be kept in the Playing XI or not because of his failures. We decided that he would be benched but on the next day, we changed our decision thinking that he would go big and win us a game,” he added.

Kaif wants Prithvi to work on his fitness and score runs in domestic cricket. “Franchises have moved on and it is a big embarrassment for him that he didn’t get a bid of INR 75 lakh. He should return to domestic cricket and score runs. Sarfaraz Khan got a chance to play for India after scoring lots of runs,” he concluded.

Prithvi has been accused of taking the sport for granted. He is more interested in parties and celebrations than in attending net sessions.
