‘Emphasis on peace in West Asia’ PM Modi spoke to Iran’s President Pezeshkian, discussed shipping routes and security issues
Tezzbuzz Desk – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has intensified diplomatic initiatives amid increasing tension in West Asia. In the same sequence, he spoke to Masood Pezeshkian over phone and wished him a happy Eid and Nowruz, and also expressed hope for peace and stability in the region.

PM Modi in his conversation said that this festive season should bring peace, stability and prosperity in West Asia. He strongly condemned the ongoing attacks on critical infrastructure in the region and described it as a threat to global supply chains. He also reiterated that freedom of navigation must be maintained on international waterways and it is extremely important for shipping routes to remain open and safe.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the cooperation of the Iranian Government in ensuring the safety of Indian citizens living in Iran.
Best wishes on Navroz
Earlier, PM Modi greeted the people of the country and the world on the occasion of Navroz. In his message he wished happiness, prosperity and good health for everyone. Nowruz, the Persian New Year, marks the beginning of spring.
Also talked to Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa
Before Iran, Prime Minister Modi had also spoken to Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on phone. During this, both the leaders discussed in detail the current situation in West Asia.
PM Modi condemned the attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure and expressed concern about its impact on global food, fuel and fertilizer supplies.

Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, Prime Minister Modi is constantly in touch with international leaders. He has discussed the situation by talking to leaders of many countries including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, France, Malaysia, Israel and Iran.
It is clear from all these conversations that India is playing an active diplomatic role in reducing regional tensions and maintaining global stability.
