Employee lost his life on Bhansali’s set, four days later FWICE took a big step
Desk. The set of ‘Love and War’ was set up at Royal Pump Studio in Goregaon (East) at around 3 am on June 17. 42 year old Chandradhari Yadav died in an accident on the sets of this film. This film is being made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it has Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. After this incident, Federation of Western India Cine Employees and Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union together demanded financial help from the producers of the film for the victim’s family.
Chandradhari Yadav was a carpenter and a member of the Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union. According to union representatives, initially it seemed that his death was due to short circuit. However, the real cause of death will be known only after the post mortem report comes. Chandradhari Yadav is survived by his wife and two daughters. Efforts were made to provide financial assistance to the family in this difficult time.
Federation of Western India Cine Employees and Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union have together demanded the producers of the film ‘Love and War’ to provide financial help to the victim’s family. After this, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production house offered Rs 40 lakh to Chandradhari Yadav’s family.
BN Tiwari, president of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, says, ‘Apart from financial compensation, we have also requested the producer to take responsibility for the education of the children of the deceased. Often workers are made to work more than the stipulated eight to ten hours. There is a limit to how much a person can physically exhaust himself during work. We will decide further action after the post mortem report comes.
Ashok Dubey, general secretary of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, says, ‘Chandradhari had been working continuously on the sets for the last three days and was on duty from 7 am to 3 pm on the day the accident occurred. According to the people present there, he received an electric shock and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he died. We have also written a letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali requesting him to give a job to Chandradhari’s wife in his production house.
