Employment opportunities increased with AI, Ashwini Vaishnav told figures of 15-20% growth

Tezzbuzz Desk- Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is bringing major changes in India’s job market and new opportunities are being created rapidly. He said that the demand for AI related jobs in the country is increasing at the rate of 15 to 20 percent annually.

The Union Minister said this during the Annual Business Summit of CII, where he appealed to the industry to work together so that skilled human resources can be prepared in line with the new technology. He said that the industry should focus on talent development in collaboration with organizations like NASSCOM, so that India can strengthen its position as a global AI hub.

Ashwini Vaishnav also admitted that due to the increasing impact of AI, many traditional parts of the IT sector will need to change, but on the other hand, the rapid growth in AI based jobs is a positive sign. According to him, this sector will expand further in the coming years.

The minister said that due to the government giving tax exemption on data centers till 2047, investment in this sector is increasing rapidly. He said that about 200 billion dollars of investment is coming in the data center sector in India, which will give a strong base to the digital economy of the country.

He also informed that companies like HP have started manufacturing AI servers in India. The government is now also appealing to many big tech companies including Google to increase server manufacturing and production in India.

Ashwini Vaishnav also highlighted India’s growing digital infrastructure. He informed that three big sub-sea cable networks are being developed in the country, which will connect India more strongly with global internet connectivity.

Of these, one network will go from Visakhapatnam to Australia and then to America, the second will reach from the southern coast of India to the Middle East, Europe and the eastern part of America, while the third will connect to America via the Cape of Good Hope. Apart from this, many other networks are also under planning.

According to the minister, all these projects will play an important role in making India a strong digital hub and will give a new direction to the country’s development journey in the coming times.
