End of ODI cricket due to retirement of Rohit-Virat pair? Former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s shocking statement in discussion

Ravichandran Ashwin’s comments on ODI cricket : Former Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has made a big comment about ODI cricket. According to him, after the 2027 World Cup, the legendary player Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma ODI cricket’s existence and relevance are likely to be threatened when he retires from cricket. There was a lot of talk about Virat and Rohit’s participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, the former veteran spinner believes that due to the growing T20 league and increasing importance of Test cricket, the space for the ODI format is likely to gradually decrease.

R Ashwin has spoken on his Hindi YouTube channel ‘Aish Ki Baat’. “I don’t know what the future of ODI cricket will be after the 2027 World Cup. However, I am a bit worried about it. I am looking at the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but it is a bit difficult to look at it like I am looking at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.” Ashwin added, “We also have to understand what the audience wants to see. I think there is still room for Test cricket, but there is not really room left for ODI cricket.”

Former India’s successful bowler Ashwin believes that Virat And with Rohit’s retirement, the ODI format may weaken further. Both the players have scored 86 ODI centuries together. Ashwin said, “Look, when Rohit and Virat came out to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, people started watching the rivalry. We know that the game is always bigger than the players, but sometimes the comeback of these players (Rohit and Virat) is necessary to keep the game relevant.”

Ashwin said, “The Vijay Hazare Trophy is a domestic one-day tournament that not many people watch. But because of the presence of Virat and Rohit, people came to watch it. So the question is, what happens when they stop playing ODIs?” He also said that.

Ashwin said, “One-day cricket used to be a great format, which produced players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who would take one run for 10-15 overs and then look explosive at the end. Now, there are no such players and there is no need for that kind of batting, because there are two new balls and five fielders in the circle.”
