Pakistan won the toss and batted first and scored 164 runs. England had a bad start but captain Harry Brook did wonders. He scored a quick century due to which the team won the match in the last over. This victory makes England the first team to reach the semi-finals while Pakistan is now in a difficult situation.
Pakistan’s initial batting was disappointing
Pakistan’s start was disappointing. Sam Ayub was out on 14 runs in the third over. Captain Salman Aga also returned to the pavilion in the next over. After this Sahibzada Farhan and Babar Azam took over. Babar was out after scoring 25 runs in 24 balls. Farhan completed his half-century in 37 balls but the team stopped in the middle overs.

Pakistan completed 100 runs in the 14th over and Farhan scored a fifty. He was out in the 16th over after scoring 63 runs in 45 balls. Fakhar Zaman went after scoring 25 runs. Usman Khan and Mohammad Nawaz were out without opening the account in the 18th over. Shaheen Afridi also got out early in the last overs. Pakistan could score only 164 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs.
England’s bad start
England had a very bad start while chasing the target of 165 runs. Phil Salt was out on the first ball of the first over. Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethel also returned to the pavilion early. Tom Banton went for 35 runs. Usman Tariq also dismissed Sam Curran. The team was under pressure after 5 wickets fell.
Brook’s explosive century
Captain Harry Brook held one end and scored a half-century in 28 balls. Along with Will Jacques, he attacked the Pakistani bowlers. Brook completed his century in 50 balls but was out immediately after the century. By then England needed 10 runs in 18 balls. The partnership put the team in a strong position.

After Brook’s dismissal, Nawaz took two wickets and tried to make a comeback in the Pakistan match. In the last over, England needed 3 runs and Pakistan needed 2 wickets. Joffra Archer ended the match by hitting a four on the first ball of Salman Mirza. England won by 2 wickets and secured a place in the semi-finals.
