Engine fails in air, trainee plane falls into pond in Prayagraj, both crew members safe
Prayagraj:There was chaos in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, when a trainee microlight aircraft of the Indian Air Force fell into a pond in the middle of the city due to a technical fault during flight. This accident happened in the pond located behind KP College, where suddenly the plane fell down with a loud noise.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the local people reached the spot and the police and administration were informed. It is a matter of relief that both the crew members on board the plane are safe and there is no news of any serious injury. After the accident, the entire area has been taken under security cordon.
Accident occurred during routine training flight
According to preliminary information, this microlight aircraft was on a routine training flight. During the flight, there was a sudden engine failure, after which the pilot could not control the plane and he had to make a crash landing in the pond. The plane kept circling in the air for a long time, then came down and fell into the reservoir.

Rescue operation, cordon off the area
As soon as information about the accident was received, teams of fire brigade, police and administration reached the spot. Barricading was done around the pond and relief and rescue work was started. The process of taking the plane out of the water has also been started, so that technical investigation can be done.
Eyewitnesses narrated their ordeal
Padam Singh, an eyewitness to the incident, said,"We were in the school campus when a sound like a rocket came. Hearing the sound, we ran and saw that some people were trapped in the swamp. We jumped into the pond and pulled out 3 people."
However, according to the Air Force, there were only two crew members on board the plane and both are completely safe.
The flight took off from Bamrauli Airport
According to the information, this trainee aircraft had taken off from Bamrauli Airport of Prayagraj. The place where the accident occurred is about 10 kilometers from the airport. Bamrauli Airport is also the headquarters of the Central Air Command, due to which this area is considered strategically sensitive.

A joint team of the Indian Air Force and the administration has started investigating the matter. Initially, engine failure or technical fault is being considered as the cause of the accident, however, official confirmation will be made only after the investigation is completed. The Air Force says that safety standards are strictly followed during training flights and every aspect of this incident will be thoroughly investigated.
