Engineer Asad Khan became Atharva Tyagi…adopted Sanatan Dharma amidst the waves of Ganga, said- I am a devotee of Mahakaal

Madhya Pradesh:Kashi, the religious city of Uttar Pradesh, is once again in the news due to its spiritual atmosphere. Here a case has come to light which has sparked debate in religious and social circles. 33-year-old Asad Khan, resident of Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, adopted Sanatan Dharma along with Vedic customs. This ritual, performed on a boat in the sacred stream of Ganga, has been described by many organizations as “homecoming”. After religious conversion, Asad Khan was named as Atharva Tyagi.

Religious ritual took place in the lap of Ganga
Let us tell you that the process of conversion of Asad Khan was completed under the supervision of Brahmins in Kashi. The puja was done with Vedic chanting while sitting on a boat in river Ganga. According to religious traditions, first he was purified, in which Panchagavya was consumed and he was bathed in Ganga water. After this, he was shaved by the barber, tilak was applied and shikha was placed. After completion of all these rituals, his new name was named Atharva Tyagi.

Was inclined towards Sanatan Dharma since childhood
Asad Khan told in the conversation that even though he was born in a Muslim family, he has been attracted towards Sanatan traditions since childhood. Going to the temple, listening to bhajans and kirtans and living in a religious environment gave him mental peace. He said that he had been suppressing this feeling in his mind for a long time, but now he has decided to openly live his life according to his faith.

Recent events changed the decision
According to Asad, in the last few years, due to the process of identification and verification in temples, he started being looked at differently, due to which he was mentally hurt. Apart from this, news of violence against Hindus in neighboring countries also deeply affected him. These incidents inspired him to give a new direction to his life and adopt Sanatan Dharma.

Family consent and future planning
Atharva Tyagi clarified that he had talked to his family before converting to religion and had also obtained their consent. He said that after returning from Kashi, he will live a separate life, so that no dispute or tension arises. Besides, he also indicated that in future he wants to work for propagating the values and culture of Sanatan Dharma.

Organizations told homecoming
Organizations like Hindu Yuva Shakti and Hanuman Sena played an active role in this entire program. Alok Nath Shukla, state campaigner of Hindu Yuva Shakti, said that his organization helps in the return home of those people whose ancestors had converted to religion for some reason. At the same time, National President of Hanuman Sena Sudhir Singh recited Hanuman Chalisa along with Atharva Tyagi and called it a return to Sanatan tradition. This incident has once again brought the religious identity of Kashi as well as the questions related to faith, identity and personal freedom in India to the center of discussion.
