England announces playing XI for the second T20 match against India, Joffra Archer makes a explosive comeback
New Delhi: The second match of the five-match T20I series between India and England will be played on July 4 at Old Trafford, Manchester. Before the match, ECB has announced its playing XI. Harry Brook will take command of the team and fast bowler Joffra Archer has returned to the team after a long time. With the arrival of Archer, England’s pace attack has become much stronger.
Rain washed out the first match
The first T20 of the series was washed out due to rain and no result was achieved. Now both the teams are hoping for victory as well as clear weather in the second match. England would like to take the lead in this match after the first match was washed out.
Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi debut?
The biggest question before the second T20 is whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi will get a chance to debut in the senior team. Vaibhav was selected in the squad for both the Ireland series and the T20 series against England, but is yet to find a place in the playing XI.
When India lost two T20s to Ireland, Vaibhav was sitting on the bench. He did not get a chance even in the first T20I against England. Sanju Samson has failed to score runs consistently. In such a situation, the team management can field Vaibhav as an opener.
There was a stir in IPL
Vaibhav Suryavanshi had performed tremendously in IPL 2025. He won the Orange Cap by scoring 776 runs in 16 matches. He became the youngest player to score so many runs. Fans are desperate to see him playing in India jersey.
Now it remains to be seen with which combination Team India will enter the second T20. It will be interesting to see whether the ‘Men in Blue’ are able to get back on the winning track after consecutive poor performances.
England’s playing XI
Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook (captain), Jacob Bethel, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Josh Tong.
