England reached Super-8 after defeating Italy, who will they have to face now?
The 29th match of T20 World Cup 2026 was played on 16 February. This match was played between England and Italy. In this match, Italy gave a tough fight to England but ultimately England managed to win the match by 24 runs. With this win, England qualified for the Super 8.
Two teams from Group C have now qualified for the Super 8. Before England, West Indies had also qualified from this group. Now Scotland, Italy and Nepal from Group C are out of T20 World Cup 2026.

England’s innings
England won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, England scored 97 runs at the loss of four wickets in the first 12 overs. Then in the remaining eight overs the team scored 105 runs at the loss of three wickets. With this, England could score a big score of 202 runs at the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
For England, Will Jacques scored unbeaten 53 runs, while Tom Banton scored 30 runs. Krishan Kalugamage and Grant Stewart took two wickets each for Italy. JJ Smits, Ali Hasan and Ben Manenti took one wicket each.

Italy’s innings
Chasing England’s target, Italy had a bad start and lost two wickets in the first over itself. However, the team made a comeback from there. Italy scored 114 runs losing 4 wickets in the first 12 overs. In the remaining 8 overs the team scored 64 runs after losing 6 wickets. As a result, Italy were all out for 178 runs in 20 overs and England won the match by 24 runs.
For Italy, Ben Manenti scored the highest score of 60 runs, while Justin Mosca scored 43 runs. For England, Jamie Overton and Sam Curran took three wickets each, Jofra Archer took two, while Will Jacques and Adil Rashid took one wicket each.

When will England play its first match in Super-8?
The Super 8 matches of T20 World Cup 2026 will start from 21st February. However, England’s first match in this stage will be on 22 February. This match will be against the top team of Group B. Sri Lanka is currently leading Group B.
