England won from New Zealand, now how will Pakistan reach the semi-finals?

England has registered its third consecutive win in the Super-8. The English team, which has already made it to the semi-finals, has kept Pakistan’s hopes alive by defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets. New Zealand won the toss and batted first at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and scored 159 runs at the loss of 7 wickets, which England achieved by losing 6 wickets in 19.3 overs.

 

England needed 43 runs in the last 3 overs to win and had only 4 wickets left in their hands. The New Zealand team looked to be winning but Will Jacques and Rehan Ahmed turned the tables. Together they scored 21 runs against Glenn Phillips who bowled the 18th over and then gave away 16 runs to Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner in the next over. Now England had to score 5 runs in the last over. Will Jacques and Rehan Ahmed took 3 balls for this and gave England a thrilling victory.

How will Pakistan reach the semi-finals?

Pakistan team will play its last Super-8 match on Saturday. He will face the challenge of host Sri Lanka. Pakistan will have to defeat Sri Lanka by 64 runs to go to the semi-finals. If Sri Lankan team bats first then Pakistan will have to chase the target in 13.1 overs.
