1. Samak Rice Idly
Sama rice is eaten as an alternative to grains during fasts. Its idli is very light and easily digestible.
How to make: Prepare batter with curd by grinding sama rice and sago. Steam it and serve it with peanut chutney.
Benefit: This is an oil-free and gluten-free snack.
2. Makhana Cashew Curry
This is a royal dish which you can eat with buckwheat or water chestnut puri.
How to make: Roast makhana and cashew nuts in ghee. For gravy, make a paste of tomato, ginger and green chilli and add curd and rock salt to it. Finally add makhana and cook until it thickens.
Benefit: Makhana is a great source of calcium, which strengthens bones.
3. Raw Banana Kebabs

How to make: Mash boiled raw banana, add water chestnut flour, chopped green chillies and fine coriander to it. Make small tikkis and shallow fry them on a pan in less ghee.

4. Sweet Potato Chaat

How to make: Cut boiled sweet potatoes into pieces. Add rock salt, roasted cumin, black pepper powder and lemon juice to it. You can also add pomegranate seeds to it.

5. Sabudana Thalipeeth
Making Thalipeeth instead of Khichdi can be a new experience. This is a famous fast dish of Maharashtra.
How to make: Mix boiled potatoes, crushed peanuts and green chillies in soaked sago. Spread it with hands and bake it on the pan like paratha.
