EPF Interest Rate: Good news for PF account holders, 8.25% interest started coming in the accounts, check your balance like this
A relief news has emerged for the employed people. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has started transferring the 8.25 percent interest rate fixed for the financial year 2025-26 to the accounts of the members. Lakhs of employees across the country have started receiving SMS regarding credit of interest amount. If no such message has come on your mobile yet, then there is nothing to worry about. Actually, EPFO does not send the interest money to everyone’s accounts at once, rather this process is completed in a phased manner.
It is being told that this time the work of interest transfer has started from July 15, 2026. Since this process is being done in different batches, it may take some time for the entry to appear in the passbook of each member. If you don’t want to wait for the message, you can check your balance yourself in a few minutes. EPFO has provided many easy digital and offline options for this.
How to find out your interest through online passbook
The most reliable way to check updated PF account balance is through the official passbook portal of EPFO. For this, you will have to go to the Unified Member Portal of EPFO and select the option of ‘Member Passbook’.
Log in by entering your UAN and password here. As soon as you log in, the entire passbook will open in front of you. In this, along with the starting and ending balance, different details of your and the company’s contribution will be visible. If interest for the current financial year has been deposited in your account, that will also be clearly visible in the passbook entry.
Get updates within minutes through missed call and SMS
If you want to know the balance immediately without internet, you can use the missed call facility. From your mobile number registered with EPFO 011-22901406 Give a missed call. The call will be disconnected automatically and within some time a message of deposit amount will come on your phone. However, to avail this facility, your UAN must be linked to bank account, PAN and Aadhaar.
Apart from this, information can also be obtained through SMS. Go to your phone’s message box and type EPFOHO UAN ENG and it 7738299899 Send it to. If you want information in Hindi or any other regional language, then change the last three letters. For example, write ‘HIN’ for Hindi and ‘MAR’ for Marathi.
Will there be any loss if interest is deposited late?
This question arises in the minds of many members that if their interest is credited late, will they suffer financial loss? The answer is absolutely not. As per the rules of Paragraph 60 of the EPF Scheme 1952, interest is calculated only on the basis of running balance of every month, even if it is credited to the account at the end of the year.
Basically, EPFO keeps adding interest on the deposited amount every month and later deposits it into the account in lump sum. Therefore, even if the interest money appears in your account after a month or two, you will still get paid at the full rate of 8.25% declared. You will not lose even a single rupee.
