Now you will not be able to withdraw PF through UPI? EPFO extended the launch date, know when the facility will be available now
EPFO Upi Withdrawal Update Today: The wait for the much-awaited UPI-based PF claim settlement facility of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has now increased a little longer. Earlier this facility was planned to be launched by the end of the financial year 2025-26, but now it is likely to be launched in August. The main reason for this delay is the technical problems encountered in the new Centralized IT Service (CITES 2.01) platform of EPFO.
CITES 2.01 portal was launched
Recently EPFO had launched its new CITES 2.01 portal, but as soon as it was launched, many members lodged complaints. Many users say that the data of their old EPF accounts is not visible on the new portal. Apart from this, problems like problem in login, slow running of the website and delay in processing of PF claim have also come to the fore. After these complaints, instead of launching new digital features, EPFO has currently focused on making the portal completely stable and error-free.
According to sources, EPFO’s technical team is busy solving all these problems. It is expected that most of the technical flaws of the portal will be rectified by the first week of August. Only after this the UPI based PF transaction facility will be launched.
New facility will be linked to UPI
The new facility will be linked to BHIM-linked UPI, through which EPF members will be able to link their PF account with their bank account. After this, the PF claim amount of eligible members can be sent directly to their bank account through UPI. However, this facility will not eliminate the existing NEFT payment system, but will be available as an additional option along with it.
Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had announced UPI based PF claim settlement under EPFO 3.0 reforms in the year 2025. The progress of this project was also reviewed in the EPFO Executive Committee meeting held in March 2025. Its aim is to make claim payments of eligible members faster and easier than before.
The technical development of this project is being done by the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), which is the technology partner of EPFO. C-DAC is developing the necessary APIs and system integration in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI) and National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). This entire work is part of the CITES 2.01 modernization project.
UPI integration is part of EPFO’s comprehensive digital reform plan. In recent months, the organization has expanded the auto-settlement claim facility, simplified withdrawal rules under the EPF Scheme, 2026 and also launched a new member portal. All these reforms are aimed at making the PF claim process faster, transparent and convenient. However, members may now have to wait till August to avail the UPI facility, as EPFO wants to completely resolve the technical problems of its new portal first.
