EuroLeague Contender Zalgiris Strengthens Roster With Saben Lee Signing
Lithuanian champions Zalgiris Kaunas have officially signed American guard Saben Lee as part of their efforts to reshape the team’s backcourt ahead of the 2026-27 season. The 26-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract that will keep him in Kaunas through the end of the 2027-28 campaign.
Lee arrives with significant experience from both the NBA and European basketball. Before joining Zalgiris, he played for Anadolu Efes in the EuroLeague and previously spent time with NBA organizations including the Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, and Philadelphia 76ers.
Zalgiris views Lee as a key addition following expected changes in its guard rotation. The club is looking to add more scoring, athleticism and playmaking to remain competitive in both the EuroLeague and the Lithuanian domestic championship.
Known for his speed, ability to attack the basket and scoring instincts, Lee enjoyed productive spells in Europe over the past two seasons. His aggressive style of play is expected to provide Zalgiris with another offensive weapon and help ease the transition as the team rebuilds its backcourt.
The signing has generated plenty of discussion among EuroLeague fans, with many viewing Lee as a potentially impactful acquisition if he can consistently translate his scoring ability into Zalgiris’ system. Community reactions have generally described the move as a strong addition that increases the club’s depth and versatility in the guard positions.
With Lee now officially on board, Zalgiris has made its first major move of the offseason and signaled its intention to remain a contender in European basketball next season.
