EV Charging: EV charging network will expand rapidly across the country, Mahindra and HPCL join hands

EV Charging Network: Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has announced an important strategic partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to promote electric vehicles in India. The objective of this collaboration is to rapidly expand the fast EV charging network across the country, thereby giving a new impetus to electric mobility.

Focus on charging network expansion
Under this partnership, Mahindra will install its Charge_iN fast charging network at HPCL petrol pumps. This will provide easy charging facilities to electric vehicle users both on highways and in cities. Better charging infrastructure is expected to accelerate EV adoption.

HPCL’s huge network will become strength
HPCL has a strong network of more than 24,400 fuel stations across the country. Apart from this, the company is already operating more than 5,400 EV charging stations under its ‘E-Charge’ brand. In such a situation, this partnership with Mahindra will help in strengthening the charging facilities on a large scale.

High-speed fast charging facility
The chargers installed under this project will support high-speed charging up to 180kW. This will be in line with Mahindra’s existing Charge_iN network, which will allow more battery to be charged in less time and make long distance traveling easier.

Big goal by 2027
Mahindra aims to install 1,000 Charge_iN charging points across the country by 2027. The company started this network recently and is now planning to expand it rapidly in collaboration with HPCL.

EV ecosystem will get a boost
Both companies believe that this partnership will accelerate the pace of adoption of electric vehicles in India. With better charging facilities, customers’ range anxiety and worries about charging will also reduce to a great extent. It is noteworthy that HPCL has earlier also partnered with VinFast’s charging unit ‘V-Green’. In such a situation, this new cooperation is being considered a big step towards further strengthening India’s EV infrastructure.
