Even at the age of 128, Swami Shivanand is attending every Kumbh, gave the mantra of life to the youth.
Mahakumbh 2025: Swami Shivanand Baba, who is 128 years old, has been marking his presence in every Kumbh Mela (Prayagraj, Nashik, Ujjain, Haridwar) for the last 100 years. This long and inspiring journey of his life is surprising for everyone.
His disciple Sanjay Sarvajana told that Swami Shivanand was born on 8 August 1896 and his age is 128 years. Baba's Aadhar card is also present as proof of this. Even at this age, Baba's enthusiasm and dedication towards yoga practice is a great inspiration for the youth.
Important message given to the youth
Swami Shivanand Baba has always considered yoga and restraint paramount in his life. He has taught the young generation that to live a healthy life, one should wake up early in the morning and do yoga for half an hour, adopt a balanced diet and lifestyle and develop the habit of walking daily. He believes that these habits maintain balance and health in life.
Inspiration from Baba's struggles
Swami Shivanand's life was full of struggles. He was born in a beggar family. When he was four years old, his parents left him with Saint Omkarananda Goswami so that he could get good food and drink. But when he was six years old, he lost his parents. His sister and parents died on the same day. At that time Baba cremated his mother and father and then the saint took care of them. This tragic incident left a deep mark on Baba's life and this was the reason why he lived a very simple life.
Yoga filled meditation and balanced life
Baba gave so much importance to Yoga in his life that his daily routine revolved around Yoga. He goes to sleep by nine in the night and wakes up at three in the morning and does yoga and meditation after retiring from defecation etc. Their food is also very simple – boiled, without oil and salt. Baba believes that simple life and strict discipline keep both body and mind healthy.
People inspired by the lifestyle of Swami Shivananda
Hiraman Biswas, who came from Delhi, had contacted Baba in Chandigarh in 2010. He is very impressed by Baba's fitness and lifestyle. He says that Baba does not take donations from anyone and his life is completely focused on yoga and sadhana. Baba currently lives in Kabir Nagar, Durgakund of Varanasi and will return there after the Kumbh Mela.
The life of Swami Shivanand Baba is an example of the fact that if a person keeps his life simple and balanced, then age becomes just a number.
