An unimaginable miracle has emerged from the deadly death zone of Mount Everest which has surprised everyone. 52 year old Sherpa guide Dawa Hillary has returned alive after dodging death for 6 days at the heights of Everest without food, water and oxygen. When he was found near the base camp on Thursday morning, there was a wave of happiness in his family, because they had considered him dead and had even made preparations for the last rites.

6 day struggle in death zone
The hair-raising incident began on May 28 when Dawa was descending with British climber Chris Thrall’s group. Being extremely tired, Dawa sat down on the way and asked the rest of his companions to go ahead. The British climbers overran due to lack of oxygen and another companion suffered frostbite and Dawa went missing on 29 May. Amidst this snow storm, Dawa quenched his thirst by just melting the snow and spent 6 days with just one packet of biscuits. They saved their lives by finding leftover oxygen from tents left on the way and from empty bottles thrown by tourists.
Crossed the dangerous path without ropes
The most surprising thing is that as the climbing season was over, all the ladders and ropes had been removed from the route. Despite this, Dawa crossed the dangerous Khumbu Icefall without any technical support and covered a distance of about 12 kilometers on foot from 25,000 feet to 17,000 feet in bad weather. When the cleaning team of Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee saw him near Crampon Point, he immediately rescued him and took him to the hospital in Kathmandu. At present he is a victim of severe frostbite, but doctors have declared him out of danger.
