Union Minister Murugan – Obnews

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan said here on Thursday that every mobile user is a content creator and broadcaster and it is their moral responsibility to ensure the authenticity of the information shared by them.

Addressing a seminar on 'Emerging Trends and Technologies in Broadcasting' on the sidelines of the India Mobile Congress, Murugan said that content holds the “leadership” position in the emerging broadcasting revolution and providing good quality content. Any person will be successful.

He said the government has recently taken steps to promote the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector and encourage filmmakers to 'Shoot in India' using the talent and locations available across the country. To encourage this, the establishment of the Indian Institute of Creative Technology in Mumbai has been approved.

Murugan said that when a person publishes news or information, it is his responsibility to authenticate, verify and ensure that it is correct.

The minister said, “We have a social and moral responsibility. Every mobile user and broadcaster should think carefully before broadcasting whether this news will affect anyone's personal life, whether this news is against the country.

Murugan stressed the need to improve access to broadcasting services to ensure inclusion of vulnerable populations in the social, economic and political spheres.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju highlighted the transformative potential of 5G, especially when combined with immersive technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality.
