Salt consumption and death: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 5 grams of salt should be consumed daily. It is important to consume salt. 5 grams of salt contains about 2 grams of sodium, which is equal to one teaspoon. However, people do not eat just 5 grams of salt but use double it. According to the WHO report, globally people eat an average of 11 grams of salt every day.

Due to this, the risk of heart disease, gastric cancer, osteoporosis, obesity and kidney diseases increases. If we talk about the deaths caused by salt every year, then the World Health Organization estimates that every year there are 10 deaths worldwide due to salt. About 18.9 lakh people die. Salt does not play a direct role in these deaths. Rather, salt plays a role in the occurrence and progression of diseases that cause death to people. This is why health experts always recommend that salt should be used minimally. This kind of advice is also given to people regarding sugar.
