Everyone left Congress in Bengal elections! After Hemant Soren and Tejashwi Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal will campaign for Mamata Banerjee today.

Kolkata: Congress seems to be quite alone in the West Bengal Assembly elections. The parties which were once with it in the INDIA block are now helping the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Congress is not getting any major support this time. Congress could not win even a single seat in the 2021 assembly elections. Its performance in the state also remained weak in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Now this election has become a test for Congress to show its strength.

Stay away from leftists also

This time Congress did not take the help of leftist parties. She is contesting the elections on her own. Competition with the ruling Trinamool Congress is natural, but the attitude of the old allies is disappointing for the Congress.

Soren and Tejashwi campaigned for Mamata

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren reached the tribal areas of Bengal and campaigned in favor of Trinamool Congress. He did not help Congress at all, even though Congress is part of Hemant Soren’s government in Jharkhand.

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav has also campaigned for Mamata Banerjee’s party. RJD and Congress had fought together in the last Bihar assembly elections, but this time Tejashwi is standing with Mamata in Bengal.

Kejriwal will reach Kolkata today

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal will reach Kolkata on Sunday and campaign for Mamata Banerjee. He will appeal to the people of Bengal to vote for TMC.

Akhilesh’s stance is different

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has not yet come to Bengal. He neither participated in the campaign of Trinamool nor Congress. However, he is said to have good relations with Rahul Gandhi.

Less emphasis from Congress leadership

Central leaders of Congress also do not seem very active in Bengal elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and many Chief Ministers are continuously campaigning on behalf of BJP. On behalf of Congress, only President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi held some meetings. At the same time, Priyanka Gandhi has also not been seen in the Bengal campaign yet.
