Indian Railways News: Railways has taken a big decision to provide relief to the passengers from overcrowding and ticket scramble in trains. Railways has prepared a master plan to double the capacity of operating trains in 48 major cities by the year 2030. This will have a direct impact on common passengers. This will make it very easy to get confirmed tickets in the future. According to Railways, the demand for travel is increasing and it is very important to update the existing infrastructure as per the future needs.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that under this master plan of Railways, not only the main stations but also the stations around them will be developed. Its purpose is to reduce crowding at the main terminal. Maintain balance of capacity. Along with increasing the capacity of Pune station, stations like Hadapsar, Khadki and Aland will also be developed. This scheme will be implemented in a phased manner in the next 5 years, so that the passengers get its benefits immediately.

Number of stabling lines will increase

Under this scheme, the number of new platforms, stabling lines for parking trains and pit lines for maintenance will be increased in the existing terminals. Railways will also build more terminals around cities. Railway signaling will be upgraded. The number of train tracks i.e. multitracking will be increased, so that more trains can run simultaneously.

Capacity will increase in these major cities

Metro Cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
North India: Lucknow, Varanasi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Ayodhya.
Central/West India: Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur, Bhopal, Indore, Surat and Vadodara.
Eastern/South India: Patna, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Cochin, Mysore and Tirupati.

Work divided into 3 categories

Railways says that this entire exercise will be done for both types of trains, local i.e. suburban and long distance non-suburb trains. Railway Board has instructed all types of zonal railways to complete the target within the time limit by dividing the work into immediate, short term and long term categories. Let us tell you, the new railway passenger fee structure has come into effect on Friday. In this, fares for journeys outside suburban areas in sleeper and first class and ordinary class have been increased by one paisa per kilometre.
