India Rule Changes 2026: Today the last sun of the year 2025 is setting and from tomorrow we will step into the new year 2026. But on the morning of January 1, not only the calendar will change, but many big rules related to your pocket and life are also going to change. From kitchen budget to car purchase and from PAN card to salary of government employees, everything is going to be new from tomorrow. If you do not complete some important tasks by tonight, you may have to suffer huge losses from tomorrow. Let us know those 10 big changes which will directly affect you.
PAN card will become useless, complete the work today itself
If you have not yet linked your PAN card with Aadhaar, then today 31st December is the last chance. From January 1, 2026, unlinked PAN cards will become ‘dead’ i.e. deactivated. This simply means that neither will you be able to claim income tax refund nor will there be any major transaction in the bank. There will also be difficulty in taking benefits of government schemes. This rule is mandatory for all those whose PAN was issued before October 1, 2024.
Kitchen Budget: New prices of LPG and fuel
Like the first of every month, on January 1 too, oil companies will decide the prices of gas cylinders. For some time now, fluctuations have been seen in the prices of 19 kg commercial cylinders, but the general public is hopeful that there will be a reduction in the prices of 14 kg domestic cylinders. Along with this, changes in the prices of jet fuel (ATF) can make air travel cheaper or more expensive. Everyone will keep an eye on the rates of CNG and PNG tomorrow morning.
8th Pay Commission and increase in salary
Tomorrow could be a historic day for lakhs of central government employees and pensioners. Today is the last day of the 7th Pay Commission and it is expected that the government can announce the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission from January 1, 2026. Although it may take some time to get the full benefit, but the employees will get the increased salary and arrears from January 1 itself.
New tax law and buying a car will be expensive
The new Income Tax Act 2025 will also be in discussion from January 1. Although its main rules will be applicable from April, the government will start notifying the new ITR forms and procedures from tomorrow. At the same time, if you are planning to buy a new car, then you will have to shell out some money. Companies like Tata, BMW, Nissan and MG Motors have announced a price increase of up to 3% from January 1.
New ID and strict rules for digital security for farmers
Now ‘Unique Farmer ID’ is going to be mandatory for farmers. Also, crop insurance will now cover damage caused by wild animals. Talking about the digital world, the rules of UPI payment and SIM card verification are becoming more strict from January 1 so that online fraud can be prevented. Banks have also decided to implement their new FD rates and cheaper loan rates from tomorrow.
Long list of exports and bank holidays to Australia
There is good news for traders that from January 1, there will be no tax (tariff) on Indian exports to Australia. At the same time, an important information for the common man is that in the month of January, banks will remain closed for a total of 16 days due to festivals like Makar Sankranti and Republic Day.
