Petrol-Diesel Price Today: Government reduced excise duty on Petrol-Diesel, cut ₹ 10 on Petrol-Diesel, gave big relief amid fuel crisis.
Excise Duty On Petrol- Diesel Price Today: Amidst the oil crisis due to Iran war, Modi government has taken a big decision regarding petrol-diesel. The central government has reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10. A reduction of Rs 10 each has been made on both. Excise duty on petrol has been reduced from Rs 13 per liter to Rs 3. At the same time, the duty of Rs 10 per liter on diesel has been completely abolished i.e. reduced to zero. However, VAT of state governments will remain applicable.
The government has taken this decision to stop the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel and to prevent losses to the companies. The government has given a big relief to the oil companies, because they had to buy crude oil at expensive prices during the time of crisis.
Due to the Israel-Iran war, the price of crude oil has increased from $70 to $100 per barrel. Oil companies are incurring losses due to this. To reduce this loss, companies would have to increase the prices of petrol and diesel, which would increase the burden on the common man. In such a situation, the government has kept the prices of petrol and diesel stable by reducing the excise duty.
At present, the price of petrol in Delhi is ₹ 94.77 per liter and the price of diesel is ₹ 87.67 per liter. Petrol in Noida is ₹94.85, diesel ₹87.98. Similarly, in Mumbai, petrol is ₹103.54 per liter and diesel is ₹90.03 per litre. Whereas in Chennai the price of petrol is between ₹ 100.80 – ₹ 101.06 per liter and the price of diesel is between ₹ 92.38 – ₹ 92.61 per liter. Petrol price in Lucknow ranges between ₹94.69 to ₹94.84 per liter and diesel between ₹87.81 to ₹88.05 per litre.
Will the prices of petrol and diesel reduce?
This reduction means that the government has given relief to oil companies. Government sources say that there will be no reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel. The current price will remain the same. There will be no change in the prices of petrol and diesel.
Naira had increased the prices
Last Thursday, Naira Energy, one of the country’s largest refineries, had increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Naira Energy had announced to increase the prices of petrol by Rs 5 per liter and diesel by Rs 3 per liter, after which the government has reduced the excise duty on both petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per liter.
