Expansion of Semiconductor Laboratory Mohali: An important step by MP Kang towards self-reliant India

Malvinder Singh Kang: India’s semiconductor industry is vital to keeping pace with the world’s leading technological trends. In this direction, the steps taken by Punjab MP Malvinder Singh Kang have emerged as an important initiative. MP Kang recently met Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and strongly pressed for immediate upgradation and massive expansion of Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Mohali. His move could emerge as a strategic national asset and cornerstone for India’s space, defense and technology sovereignty.

He further wrote that, it is a strategic national asset and the cornerstone of India’s space, defense and technology sovereignty. Subsequently, I visited the SCL Mohali facility today and witnessed the work there firsthand, which further strengthened my conviction that this is not just an institutional expansion, but a national need for self-reliance in critical technologies.

Malvinder Singh Kang has talked about ensuring strong and timely support to the Punjab Government to accomplish this mission. He wrote, I will pursue this mission with utmost seriousness and consistency with @PbGovtIndia to ensure full and timely support. Land allocation, quick administrative approvals and smooth facilitation, so that SCL Mohali can become a global scale semiconductor hub, in line with India’s strategic, scientific and national ambitions.
