Expedition Bigfoot Season 7 – What we know about the release window, plot details and cast updates
While the show has proven to be of sufficient popularity for continued hope for its end, the status of its production is on hold pending network decisions. Please check Discovery’s webpage, the cast’s social media (such as Mireya Mayor and Bryce Johnson), and other official sources of information for updates. Fans have been able to help by creating pressure on group forums. All clickbait-style videos referring to the “cancellation” or “horrific incident” are based on false information.
No announcements have yet been made by the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel or the cast regarding a renewal, nor have any reveal/trailer or filming start dates for the next season been given by those studios. Season 6 (which is 8 total episodes) premiered on the Discovery Channel in late January of 2025 and culminated in the finale entitled “Target Identified”, whose air date was approximately March 12, 2025. Neither the official Discovery Channel website nor the official Travel Channel website lists beyond the most recent episode airing in season (Season 6) – these databases do not show an upcoming/renewed series for either channel.
Expedition Bigfoot Season 7 – What we know about the release window
There is currently no announcement for a premiere date for Season 7, but there have been rumours of possible air dates (e.g., August 2025 or August 14/18, 2025) which were denied by members of the cast (eg, Dr. Mireya Mayor) through social media (noting these are false or due to confusion with other shows).
Many fans and fan websites are speculating that if the show is renewed and filming of Season 7 happens soon, then the winter/spring of 2026 (February – April) will be a likely timeframe for air. This speculation is based on the time it typically takes between seasons, which is normally around 10 – 14 months, and how quickly the show finishes its post-production work (usually 1 – 2 months between finishing filming and the show airing).
As of today, the status of the show is up in the air as there were corporate mergers at Discovery/WBD (sales and budget changes that changed how unscripted programming gets made), causing the show to not have a confirmed renewal at this point, but there are ongoing discussions regarding a new season. The cast has continued to communicate that the show has not been cancelled.
Expedition Bigfoot Season 7 – Plot details
Currently, no plot or synopsis exists for Season 7. However, Season 6 had several expeditions to areas, such as Washington’s backcountry and “The Fork” – a possible breeding/migratory area for Bigfoot. Many pieces of evidence were collected while on these expeditions, including the presence of tree structures, howls, heat signatures that indicate family units/nest locations, and multiple secessionist sightings of Sasquatches and “predator calls.”
The continuation of a scientific and survivalist approach will likely occur in Season 7. Similar to Seasons 1-6, Season 7 has relied upon technology (drones, thermal imaging, audio lures, and trail cameras) to find and gather evidence of Sasquatch families and breeding grounds, built upon the leads found in high-traffic areas in the Pacific Northwest and California. Empirical evidence is the primary focus of the program.
Expedition Bigfoot Season 7 – Cast updates
The core team is expected to return with no announced departures or major additions:
- Bryce Johnson (operations/host/expedition leader).
- Dr. Mireya Mayor (primatologist, key scientific voice; active in addressing fan questions).
- Russell Acord (survivalist/mountain climber; has expressed eagerness to film once the deal is done).
- Biko Wright (tracker/bushcraft expert who gained popularity in Season 6; likely to continue).
Occasional returns or cameos from earlier members like Ronny LeBlanc are possible but not confirmed. The cast has been vocal at events and online that they’re ready to go back into the field pending network approval.
