External Affairs Ministry hits back at China: The move to change the name of Indian territory is a mischievous attempt

New Delhi, 12 April. India on Sunday strongly rejected China’s efforts to give fictitious names to places on Indian territory and asserted that such moves cannot change the ground reality regarding sovereignty over Arunachal Pradesh.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, while answering media questions on Sunday, said that India completely rejects the ‘mischievous attempts’ by China to change the names of places which are part of India.

Randhir Jaiswal stressed that such actions are based on false claims and fabricated stories, which have no validity. He reiterated that the territories concerned, including Arunachal Pradesh, were, are and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. He said efforts to create new names do not alter India’s territorial integrity, and are seen as an attempt to strengthen baseless claims.

The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson also warned that such steps undermine ongoing efforts to stabilize and normalize relations between India and China. He urged China to avoid steps that bring negativity to bilateral relations and hinder initiatives aimed at improving mutual understanding. In recent years, relations between India and China have remained sensitive due to border disputes and clashing territorial claims.
